About Us

Integrity Community Media Ltd is a 100% New Zealand owned company. Its founders and owners are Allan and Patricia Mortensen of Dargaville, the small rural town in Northland where the company's head office is situated. In fact, Integrity Community Media employ close to 30 staff in Dargaville alone.

Our main business activities involve all the aspects of producing a portfolio of successful monthly Farming Lifestyle publications, each with a regional focus covering Northland, Waikato, Taranaki, Manawatu, Hawke's Bay and the Wairarapa. Additionally, we publish two weekly community newspapers — the Kaipara Lifestyler, which covers the area from Wellsford through to Mangawhai, across and through Dargaville to Pouto, and up to the Waipoua Forest, and the Record, the local newspaper serving Rolleston and West Melton, the fastest growing areas in Canterbury.

We also offer a full range of marketing services to our advertisers, including a range of digital marketing solutions.

With significant nationwide expansion plans starting to come to fruition it’s an exciting time for Integrity — and the continuing popularity of our publications specifically, and the effectiveness of print media, means that the future is looking bright.

The Story

The journey started in 2007 when it was decided to lift the existing business North West Multi Media Ltd, and develop it into a company from which the owners could receive a good return while only requiring their input in a governance capacity.

Growth was substantial and impressive. Initially set up as a print broking and graphic design business that published its own publications, in 2006/2007 the decision was made to focus on the publishing side of the business, concentrating on the rapidly growing Kaipara Lifestyler newspaper. North West Multi Media was also instrumental in founding the Mangawhai Focus community newspaper, before selling to the current owners.

The Kaipara Lifestyler was increased in frequency and is currently an extremely popular and successful weekly publication that operates profitably and continues to grow.

While scoping regions in New Zealand for the potential to establish new farming mastheads, contact was made with Kelvin and Gillian Green who had been publishing Canterbury Farming for approximately 12 years. After lengthy discussions it was decided to merge the two businesses into a new identity, NorthSouth Multi Media Ltd.

The merger created a company owning six mastheads, Canterbury Farming, Northern Farming Lifestyles, Waikato Farming Lifestyles, Taranaki Farming Lifestyles, Manawatu Farming Lifestyles and the Kaipara Lifestyler.

Further change boosted the company's fortunes and paved the way for a new name in 2018. Increasing the number of farming mastheads with the addition of the Hawke’s Bay Farming Lifestyles and the Wairarapa Farming Lifestyles, and local newspaper The Record, the current directorate amicably parted ways with Kelvin and Gillian Green, who continue to operate their own very successful Canterbury focussed rural publication.

Integrity Community Media was chosen as a fitting name for the company, representing as it does the core journalistic values of honesty and accuracy, along with service to our local communities who we strive to inform, educate, entertain and advise with timely fact checked, researched and accurate news combined with well crafted, enjoyable feature content.
